BACK 2 BASICS GRANTED 510(K) CLEARANCE FOR eCARBON ACIF AND PLIF CAGES
INDEPENDENCE, OHIO—September 26, 2019. Back 2 Basics, a surgeon driven spinal solution company, has received 510(k) market clearance for their eCarbon Anterior Cervical Interbody (ACIF) and Posterior Lumbar Interbody (PLIF) Devices.
Recognizing the problems and limitations of the present offerings of PEEK and Titanium implants and utilizing decades of experience with carbon composite; Back 2 Basics’ surgeon developers have focused on creating spinal interbody cages and implants exhibiting ideal biomechanical and biologic properties. Back 2 Basics goals of improved patient care, faster recovery, less pain, and improved outcomes have driven development.
Dr. Louis Keppler, St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, Cleveland, Ohio: “In over 30 years of clinical experience, beginning with my work with Dr. Steffee, I have found carbon composite cages to be superior to PEEK and titanium implants. They have unique conductivity characteristics maximizing biologic potential of graft materials. Interbody devices made of long fiber carbon reinforced polymer demonstrate optimal performance and strength. In addition, its radiolucency permits unobstructed imaging of the fusion site post-operatively.”
Additional spine and orthopedic implant designs and applications are being developed.
